Open-data hub — Atlas

Build your own open-data hub — self-hosted and sovereign

Atlas is an open-source solution template for building an ArcGIS Hub–style open-data portal on Strata: a searchable data catalog, per-dataset pages, live maps and plain-language exploration — published on your own servers, no AGOL and no per-viewer fees.

The problem

Publish authoritative data to the public — without a second Enterprise

Governments, ministries, utilities and universities want to share open data publicly — but not to buy or renew ArcGIS Hub or a second Enterprise, and often need it hosted sovereignly on their own infrastructure.

What you get

A complete open-data portal on your servers

Point it at your data in the Strata Data Store — upload GeoJSON or Shapefile — and it publishes a public, ArcGIS-compatible portal. Clone the template, customize with the AI guide, and publish.

Searchable data catalog

A searchable list of datasets with metadata, plus download and API links — your organization's atlas of open data.

Per-dataset pages

A detail page for every dataset: description, metadata, an embedded live map, and download or API access.

Live Feature & Vector Tile maps

Every dataset is served as an ArcGIS-compatible Feature / Vector Tile service via Serve — embeddable, and consumed by ArcGIS Pro, QGIS and MapLibre unchanged.

Plain-language exploration

Visitors and staff explore the catalog in plain language with Ask — optional, and available with a fully on-prem local model.

Themeable & branded

Brand the portal to your organization — colours, logo and layout — so it looks like yours, not a template.

Bilingual (EN / AR) ready

Bilingual out of the box — Arabic and English, with full right-to-left support.

Self-hosted & sovereign

Runs on Strata, on your own infrastructure

The portal runs on the customer's own infrastructure — data never leaves the building, no AGOL and no per-viewer fees. Your ArcGIS Pro and QGIS users connect to the same services unchanged. A lightweight, sovereign alternative to ArcGIS Hub — keep your Esri licenses.

Honest boundary

Atlas is the open-data portal, catalog and public map — not ArcGIS Hub's full community-engagement suite (surveys, events, initiatives, hosted feedback). It's a data hub, not a citizen-engagement platform, and serving is read-only, consistent with the rest of Strata.

Two ways to get it

Build it yourself, or have us deliver it

Every solution starts from an open, AI-guided template — build it yourself for free, or have us deliver and support the finished result.

DIY — the free open template

Clone the open (MIT) repo, follow the AI-guided setup, and run it on Strata Free — on your own data, on your own servers. Yours to customize, no license.

Delivered + supported

We stand it up, customize it with AI on your data and jurisdiction, load your first layers, and support it — delivery, license and annual support on Strata Team or Unlimited.

Complete spatial platform

Serve your data. Then talk to it.

Strata serves your spatial data over the ArcGIS REST protocol, then lets anyone explore it in plain language — on-prem and sovereign, at a fraction of Enterprise cost. Keep your Esri licenses.
